Statement on Privacy

Who we are

Our website address is: http://www.drecollab.org. Part of DREC’s research is concerned with what concepts like “privacy,” “consent” and “transparency” mean in the context of the ever-changing internet market of surveillance capitalism. With this context in mind we welcome you to critically interrogate the internet as a research environment and to manage your risk based on your own assessments.

Temporary Analytics

While we have never used any form of analytics on our site, starting May 13, 2021, we are temporarily experimenting with Koko Analytics. We do so in an effort to care for, and act as the most responsible hosts for, the contributors to DREC. We expect to remove Koko services from our site by mid-June, and we will announce that here. Until then, we will be using Koko to count the number of visitors to our site, and to individual pages on our site. We will not use any cookies (to collect, store or share information about visitors). We will be monitoring for referrer spam and any unusual spike in site visits/traffic. We will not collect any personal or identifiable information about visitors. Koko is open source and GDPR compliant. You can read more about Koko Analytics here.

As usual DREC does not use cookies nor do we actively collect user data. We are hosted on a Canadian server as a measure of protection for our users and content.
